American Heist Movie Review

ugggggh.. this movie was 94 minutes long and it felt like 2.5 hours.

Alright so American Heist stars Adrien Brody and Hayden Christiensen, and it's a heist film, I guess.

This premise is that Hayden Christensen and Adrien Brody are brothers who 10 years ago committed some crime (the script never tells us what) and Adrien Brody spends 10 years in jail, while Hayden Christensen fixes his life.

and i. hated. this. movie

When this American Heist started, I knew that Hayden Christensen was in it and I thought that with a better director and a good script (so a good movie) he could turn into a good actor. i was wrong.

EVERYBODY was terrible! Even Oscar winning Adrien Brody! I was shocked at how cartoony he was!

The script is so bad, that when Christensen told Brody something in relation to their past relationship, BRODY STARTS CRYING AND BLAMING CHRISTENSEN FOR SOMETHING THAT IS SO IRRELEVENT TO THE STORY

So, at the beginning, I said that this film is supposed to be heist film. THE HEIST TAKES PLACE IN THE LAST HALF HOUR OF THE MOVIE

Also, there is a romance subplot, which of course never reaches full circle, so its completely stupid just like the rest of this movie

ya im done, I saw this movie on Netflix, so I beg of you, don't watch this, just rate it one star.

Kung Fury Movie Review

So this movie is awesome!

I first came across this movie/internet success story on Facebook. Then I saw a music video by David Hasselhoff and once I saw this
I knew I would love this film
Now, I know this 30 minute, throwback to 80's action/comedy films, is not a contender for best action film of 2015 for the Oscars, but I loved this movie because it doesn't take itself so seriously. Kung Fury knows its not good and rides on that premise, like the Hoff does on a T-Rex at the end of the music video, and it does it perfectly.

So, without spoilers, Kung Fury is about a Miami cop in 1985, named Kung Fury, who is struck by lightening, bitten by a snake, and given the mastery of Kung Fu. He is then sent back in time to Nazi Germany to assassinate the one and only Kung Fuhrer

There are literally, so many throwbacks to the 80's, it's amazing.

You can find the film on YouTube (link below) or on Netflix.

Star Wars Episode VI; The Force Awakens Trailer #3 Reaction

STAR WARS !!!!

So I'm a huge fan of the Star Wars franchise and I have been waiting a long time for a new episode after the disaster that was the prequels

but

there has been an awakening...

have you felt it

what you mean that shiver down my spine? ya i felt it

ok so I don't think Disney has to release any new Star Wars trailers. We're already hyped to shit about this new trilogy

so this trailer starts out with Rey played by Daisy Ridley spelunking to what seems a battleship of sorts

it shows more of Han Solo telling Finn played by John Boyega and Poe played by Oscar Isaac that Jedi are real

This trailer shows more of Kylo Ren being played by Adam Driver and how he is going to finish what Darth Vader started. AND I AM SO EXCITED

I know I'm not breaking down anything in too much detail, well that's because I don't want to know anything about the new trilogy, except the cast and who's directing each episode.

did i mention how excited i am?

so linked down below is the actual trailer, and a couple articles published by Shmoes Know and Screen Rant, also the trailer is in the Comicbookmovie.com article

I will have a review of The Machinist but more important things came up (like starwars)

Godzilla (2014) Movie Review

AHHH IT'S GOOD TO BE BACK!!

Hello everyone, wow this is my first post since Straight Outta Compton in August, so I thought I would return with a bang, and what other bang than Godzilla (2014).

For those who don't know me, I grew up with every single film in the Godzilla franchise. I remember the first Godzilla film I saw was the original 1954 Gojira (thanks dad) and I fell in love.

Now, I saw this film in the movie theatre, and I was a tad underwhelmed with Godzilla.

Now, I know your probably asking 'why? the movie was so cool' well ok lets look at the cast first.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson- Ford Brody
Ken Wantanabe- Dr. Ishiro Serizawa
Bryan Cranston- Joe Brody
Elizabeth Olsen- Elle Brody

ok, this is a good cast, wonderful talent, but why is Godzilla just good and not great?

lets look at the crew

Director
Gareth Edwards

Writer(s)
Max Borenstein
Dave Callaham

Gareth Edwards is the director and he does an amazing job, but my main concern for Godzilla is the writers, if you looked at their IMDb pages specifically at Dave Callaham's page. Callaham was behind Doom and The Expendables

I know that it sounds like I'm bitching and I am, because I'm wondering if Callaham and Borenstein ever did research or watched a previous Godzilla film. Linked below is an entire page based on Godzilla's power's and abilities. Also, for those thinking 'Godzilla can't survive a nuclear blast' watch the final battle in Godzilla: Final Wars

I think that what this movie is missing out most on is fan service. Not that this movie didn't have it, it did, three words, NUCLEAR FIRE BREATH

So, the best scene's since this is a more realistic take on the character of Godzilla is the first fifteen minutes and the last half hour with Godzilla kicking all sorts of ass.

Now, lets talk about the good in the movie. The CGI Godzilla and MUTO's were awesome. When they were throwing down, I was cheering in my seat, I felt like I was a little kid again.

I totally agree, but have a more well known monster fight Godzilla
So, the TLDR version: Acting was awesome, directing was awesome, writing was lacking with the past lore of Godzilla, other than that, a interesting take on Godzilla and can't wait for a sequel.

ALSO TOHO STUDIOS (THE ORIGINAL STUDIOS THAT CREATED GODZILLA) IS DEVELOPING A NEW GODZILLA MOVIE DUE TO COME OUT IN 2016 LINK BELOW

Also linked below is a review by Jeremy Jahns, both his spoiler free and spoiler filled reviews.

Straight Outta Compton Movie Review

Straight Outta Compton is directed by F. Gary Grey and stars O'shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, Neil Brown Jr., and Aldis Hodge as Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Dj Yella, and MC Ren.

And for those who don't know, Straight Outta Compton is about the gangsta rap group N.W.A rise and fall in the late 80's to mid 90's. Now, if anybody knows me, which is a majority of my readers, you will know that I really don't like hip-hop/rap, but this movie kinda changed my mind.

Now, I just got back from my local cinema which the theatre was PACKED with people and when the music started kicking in, people SANG ok rapped, but SANG their hearts out, now usually I hate it when people talk during a movie, but this time, it didn't annoy me, I actually enjoyed it!!

Now the first half of Straight Outta Compton is all about N.W.A and the awesomeness that is N.W.A. The last half of the film is about the separate solo careers of Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, and Eazy-E.

The movie shows Ice Cube writing Friday, Dr. Dre developing Death Row Records and Beats, and Eazy-E doing the same thing, except for Beats of course.

Also, Jason Mitchell, this man is an actor. He totally nailed the character of Eazy-E, he seriously deserves and Oscar, for best actor in a leading role.

Ok, so as you can see, I loved this movie and I hope everybody goes to see Straight Outta Compton.

I may actually watch Friday, now.

Daredevil Movie/Netflix Series Review/Rant

Hello everyone, so a couple of weeks ago, I put on the Bloodyawesomemedia Facebook page, that I would be starting a new series on the blog (no duh). The series is going to be called "How It Could Have Been Better" and I will be starting that series with Sam Rami's Spiderman 3 tomorrow.

Anyway, lets talk about the movie that's worth seeing the Director's Cut, but STILL boring, yet one of the best newer shows of 2015.

Borefest 2003 A.K.A Daredevil
uggh
Marvel's Awesome Action Netfilx Show A.K.A Daredevil
Awesome
Right, so I was thinking 'How can I deconstruct this attempt of an awesome vigilante movie while comparing it to it's amazing counterpart?' and I decided to go for the character's first.

So, let's get started.

Matt Murdock/Daredevil (2003)- played by Ben Affleck, the character was a douche bag to pretty much everyone, except for Foggy. Affleck's portrayal of Daredevil is terrible, I mean the first mobster boss he fights with, he strait up murder's him, I MEAN WHAT!!

Matt Murdock/Daredevil (2015)- played by Charlie Cox, his version of Matt was done so well. He cares for pretty much everybody, he plays the part of both Matt and Daredevil perfectly.

Franklin "Foggy" Nelson (2003)- played by Jon Favereau, probably the only likable character in the whole movie. Favereau does a good job playing Foggy.

Franklin "Foggy" Nelson (2015)- played by Elden Henson, and he plays the part of Foggy, so well. The chemistry between Foggy and Matt are every bit as good. You, as the viewer believes that these are real people in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so good job Elden Henson.

Wilson Fisk/The Kingpin (2003)- played by the late, great Michael Clarke Duncan. His character is just a big baddie who, within 2 minutes of the audience being introduced to him, he strait up bashes in the head of a henchmen with a glass cane. Kingpin suffers from not having any character development, therefore we don't care about him (more on that later).

Wilson Fisk/The Kingpin (2015)- played by the amazing actor, Vincent D'Onofrio. To be honest, I didn't even know who D'Onofrio was, I'm glad I do now. His performance is AMAZING. Fisk knows what to say and do when he's dealing business, but underneath, he is an damaged dude. There's a whole episode dealing with his childhood, to BUILD HIS CHARACTER SO WE GIVE A CRAP.

Ben Urich (2003)- played by Joe Pantoliano, his take on Ben Urich is really unnecessary. If I could only compare his character to...

In all seriousness, I'll get to reviewing this monstrosity soon enough

Ben Urich (2015)- played by Vondie Curtis-Hall, there's a reason throughout the whole season why he's doing what he's doing. I actually started to cry after what happened to him in one episode. Literally, I'm not joking. Season 1 Episode 11.

So I really can't compare character's that aren't in the show, or will be, but not yet, so I'll do that when season 2 of Daredevil is on Netflix.

ok so now character's are out of the way, let's talk about the action. Before I start ranting, I am going to link below a video called "The Problem with Action Movies Today" by a talented YouTuber, Chris Stuckmann. Long story short, the Netflix Daredevil does everything right, the movie on the other hand...

Jeremy, your awesome!

the first fight scene in NOTHING, but shaky cam. For those who don't know what shaky cam is, that is when the camera is shaking, to the point where the audience can't understand what's happening, or in editing, the director will add vibrations to the camera to shake it.

ALSO the first shot we see of Daredevil. He Batman dives off a skyscraper, senses the window-washer dangling elevator thingy, and LANDS ON THE THINGY PERFECTLY FINE. If you don't know, the DEFIED THE SIMPLEST CONCEPT OF PHYSICS. That is, when an object/person is in free fall, the object/person gains speed, so what I'm saying is that DAREDEVIL SHOULD HAVE BROKEN LEGS DUE TO THAT.

In fact, Daredevil shouldn't be called Daredevil, call him Catman!!!

I'm so calling Stan Lee

Sorry for ranting, I just had to..

ok guys, be prepared for another rant post, because I'm going to watch The Amazing Spiderman 2, witch I've heard good and bad about, so I'm kinda excited

Deadpool Trailer Review

Wow ok, this is awesome.

Ok so, Ryan Reynolds was on Tuesday's episode of Conan to premiere the first teaser trailer for Deadpool.

So, for those who don't know, Deadpool is a crazy, insane mercenary/anti-hero in the Marvel universe. Movie-wise, he is going to be a part of the X-Men universe, as a spin off. Here's a picture of him at one of his finest moments.

So, if you've seen the leaked test footage, or this new trailer, you can see that Reynolds is the perfect fit for the role.

I'll admit it, I don't know a lot about the villains of Deadpool, all I know is his origin story and his badass abilities. Below will be a video by the amazing YouTube channel, Emergency Awesome. Charlie over there does amazing video's ranging from Marvel to DC to Game of Thrones, pretty much anything geeky on the big/silver screen.

The jokes between Wade Wilson (Deadpool) and his friend was pretty hilarious.

"You look like an avocado has sex with older avocado."
"Thank You"

Anyway, I think, based off of the trailer, Deadpool is going to be a bloody good time. I like the way that Ryan Reynolds is portraying the character of Wade Wilson/Deadpool and I can't wait for the movie to come out in February.

Antman Movie Review

Ya, so this movie is pretty much Marvel's take on the heist genre

So, I just got back from seeing Antman and I was suprised and a little underwhelmed at the same time.

I think what this movie was trying to do, was that it was trying to be as successful as Iron Man, but it just wasn't.

Antman stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/ Antman, Michael Douglas as Dr. Hank Pym/ Old Antman, Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, and Corey Stoll as Darren Cross/ Yellowjacket.

So, for context, Scott Lang is a thief that steals valuables and gets arrested a lot, so Hank Pym decides to recruit Lang to wear the Antman costume to steal another suit called the "Yellowjacket" from Darren Cross.

The biggest thing wrong with this movie is that Antman focuses on the big heist of the movie, and Scott Lang becoming Antman for a majority of the movie, which got a tad boring and because they did that, they didn't develop the character of Darren Cross, like at all. Ok, maybe a flashback, but that's about it.

And of course, this being an Antman movie, the studios had to connect this movie with the Avenger's and for the most part they did, the references to the Avenger's titles at times felt shoved down the audiences throat, which is never good.

The studios do a good job with setting up Antman for Civil War and the rest of the MCU, ya that last credit end scene. By the way, there's two post credit scene's at the end of this movie.

Now, I know it sounds like I hated this movie, but I'm just pointing out the negatives first.

I thought the acting was spot on with everybody, especially Michael Douglas.

The humor is classic Marvel humor, at times I was laughing pretty hard

Overall, I thought the movie was enjoyable, but it does have some problems, so I would still recommend Antman a viewing with 3D.

So, here is a review of Antman by one of my favorite YouTuber's Chris Stuckmann:

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Trailer Reaction

So since I have reacted to the teaser trailer for the upcoming DC movie Suicide Squad now it's time for my reaction to the new trailer fresh from Comic Con 2015 for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

So just for some context, I actually really liked the movie Man of Steel which if you don't know who that is, where oh where have you been the past like 70 some odd years? ITS SUPERMAN

Now ever since I was a young boy, growing up with the Christopher Reeve Superman saga from the 70's, I always thought that Superman was an indestructible alien that could kick a lot of ass, which he can, but I also always thought that he was too powerful and that he couldn't be beat...

*ACCORDING TO THE MOVIES, NOT THE COMICS*

... plus I always thought that most hero's in the DC universe had absolutely NO character development, due to the generic and boring style of comic book writing (up until Stan Lee saved the whole genre and created Spiderman). Well, then I saw Man of Steel and I actually really liked the character of Kal-El (Superman), I thought that he was a well fleshed out character and that's the one thing I want DC to copy from Marvel.

I want DC to take character's that people either remember from their childhood when they read them in the comics, or the newer generation doesn't know anything about them and make separate movies to make everybody care about the hero's before they have to unite as a team and take on a huge baddie that requires everybody to defeat. What I am seeing is that character's are getting their movies after the Justice League movies are done with, mainly looking at Green Lantern and Cyborg

And for me that's pretty much every character in the entire DC universe except for Batman and Superman.

SO anyway, back to the trailer, I really like the vibe that this gives. It turns out that in the Snyderverse (a reference to Zack Snyder because he's basically creating this universe with DC) the Gotham City and Metropolis are neighboring cities, where Gotham is the slums, the not so nice part of town and Metropolis is the rich country.

The trailer shows a building being burned to the ground with the fight between Superman and Zod in Man of Steel and Bruce Wayne is on the ground, he runs into the developing cloud dust and then the camera shows him hugging a little girl (his daughter? I hope so cause then Batman got really creepy really quick) and looking up at the destruction

And with the near destruction of the entire Metropolis area, Superman is to blame for all the destruction and is put on trial

There are a couple things that I find a little unsettling. The fact that Wonder Woman is in the trailer and  Aquaman, The Flash, and Cyborg are supposedly in the film, I just don't want this movie to suffer a Spiderman 3 with too many character's all clustered together, I do hope that Snyder can pull it off.

My biggest gripe about this trailer is Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. Remember when the casting rumor's were first hitting the internet, there was a lot of rumor's that Bryan Cranston (who was on Breaking Bad) was casted as Lex Luthor, I WISH THAT WERE TRUE! I'M SORRY MR. EISENBERG, BUT YOU AREN'T ACTING LIKE A BAD BALD VERSION OF BRUCE WAYNE BRYAN CRANSTON WOULD'VE MADE A BETTER LEX

ok wow sorry, I tend to get really enthusiastic about a subject. um wow

Anyway, they could and should recast Eisenberg as Lex because even Kevin Spacey did better in the awful Superman Returns movie.

The trailer even shows Superman and Batman fighting, well it's actually Batman dodging a heat blast by Supes, but anyway.

From what I can see in this movie, I'm excited for it. Not as excited for it as I am for Suicide Squad, but I want to see how DC builds it's own universe to compete with the insanely successful MCU.

So, here's a link to the trailer:

Also, if it seems like I wrote this at two o'clock in the morning and is sloppily written, I'm sorry, but I wanted to get this out of the way so I can review Antman tomorrow.

Have a good day/night guys :)

Suicide Squad Trailer Reaction

Can I just say I love Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn right out of the gate?

Okay so the only trailer for the upcoming DC movie in the DC-verse Suicide Squad  was at Comic Con and like every trailer at Comic Con, it's bootlegged by some pretty cool people and uploaded to the internet. The cool thing about this, is that the trailer was released in HD and now it's even better!

I actually like the way DC is doing their universe, which is very dark and realistic, but not like Christopher Nolan realistic. I think comic book movie fans have gotten used to the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe, so it's nice to see something like this.

My favorite scene is at the final scene with Joker and who I'm thinking is Dr. Harleen Quinzel AKA Harley Quinn AKA Margot Robbie. The Joker is one of my favorite characters of all time and I'm excited to see Jared Leto's take on the Joker

By the way, everybody's complaining about how weird the Joker looks and they don't like all the tattoo's, I personally think they compliment the character, so I'm pumped for this movie.

The only thing I have wrong with this trailer is that they really don't show the villain (please correct me if I'm wrong)

So I will be doing my reaction to Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice soon and also according to Ryan Reynolds, there will be an official released Deadpool trailer in three weeks, so I will do that as soon as I see it

Have a good day guys

Here's the trailer link in case you want to watch it :)

Pulp Fiction Movie Review

FINALLY I'm getting to this review!

So Pulp Fiction is one of those movies that appeals to everybody wither it's the dialogue or the story. The weird thing about this movie is that its movies chapters are all split up in a Tarantino story type of way, so after you watch the movie for the first time, you can spend the next like day piecing the whole thing together, which is half the fun of this movie

Also, again like any other Tarantino movie, the opening scene (in my opinion there's two) is always the hook into reeling you into the movie, so I consider Pulp Fiction to have two opening scene's because the first legit scene is happening after the second opening scene, which is the real start of the whole movie.

So, my favorite opening scene is when Jules Winnfield (played by Samuel L. Jackson) and Vincent Vega (played by John Travolta) are on their way to preform a hit on a business partner of Marsellus Wallace. The dialogue is written so wonderfully, it reminds me of two coworkers going to work and having a conversation that ANY coworker would have.

There's a whole chapter that revolves around Vincent and Marsellus' wife Mia (played by Uma Thurman) everybody does excellent and without spoilers, this chapter is probably the most intense

The next chapter in Pulp Fiction deals with Butch (played by Bruce Willis) and his girlfriend Fabienne (played by Maria de Mederiros). Butch is a boxer who is told by Marsellus to lose the fight, he doesn't and the rest of the chapter is Marsellus trying to get Butch. Also, this chapter has probably the most disturbing scene in the whole movie (you'll know when Zed says "bring out the gimp").

The last chapter is back with Jules and Vincent as they encounter divine intervention, and Marvin.

So if you haven't seen Pulp Fiction well go see it, it's on Netflix, so go watch it!!

Also, I'm going to see Marvel's Antman on opening night, so I'll try to get the review up on Saturday.

Dark Before Dawn by Breaking Benjamin Album Review

After I saw the Facebook post that Breaking Benjamin was a) back and b) releasing a new album in June, I freaked out! I immediately dropped what I was doing and started listening to classic BB songs such as Diary of Jane, and I Will Not Bow and now the album Dark Before Dawn is a little over a week old and after obsessing over each song, even Dark and Dawn which are 1:50-2:00 in length, I can proudly say that this is the return of a band that will keep on delivering amazing music well into the next twenty years and further on.

Even the title of the CD tells us that Benjamin Burnley, the front man and man responsible for Breaking Benjamin in the first place, has gone through some Dark times, but has emerged and the Dawn is something beautiful, such as this record.

The track listing is as follows:

*all lyrics by Benjamin Burnley

1.Dark: written and composted by guitarist Jasen Rauch
2.Failure: the first single released on March 23, 2015
3.Angels Fall: the second single released on April 14, 2015
4.Breaking the Silence: probably my favorite song on the album, very addictive to listen to
5.Hollow
6.Close to Heaven
7.Bury Me Alive
8.Never Again: Lyrics also by Keith Wallen and Jasen Rauch
9.The Great Divide
10.Ashes of Eden: My absolute favorite song on this album! Ben does and excellent job with his vocals on this piece and the whole band is terrific!
11.Defeated: Lyrics also by Jason Rauch
12.Dawn: Like Dark, this is also written/composed by guitarist Jason Rauch

Now I must recognize two things, one a person and the other an achievement. That person is none other that bassist and screamer, Aaron Bruch! The man is amazing from what videos I have seen on YouTube (link below) and you are an amazing contribution to Breaking Benjamin. The achievement is to both recognize the band itself and the awesome fan base of which I am happy to be a part of, it was announced yesterday, by the article below, that Dark Before Dawn is NUMBER ONE on the Billboard top 200, so thank you Benjamin Burnley and the rest of Breaking Benjamin for making amazing music that the fans adore so much! When I get to see you guys live it will be an awesome show! Also, if you haven't gotten this album, what are you waiting for? Go to you local retailer and pick this up, lets keep Dark Before Dawn on the top 200!!

Reservoir Dogs Movie Review

Reservoir Dogs is a Crime Drama written and directed by the phenomenal Quentin Tarantino. Being this is his first theatrically released film ever, even though this isn't my favorite Tarantino film, this still is an awesome movie.

The film starts with (and in my opinion every Tarantino movie) starts out with a conversation between the main characters of the movie that sucks you in and keeps you invested in the movie, in Dogs the scene is a squad of bank robbers and mob boss' sitting in a diner having a discussion on the meaning of Madonna's "Like A Virgin" and tipping, with reason's to and not to.

                                                                              The Crew
1. Mr. White- (Harvey Keitel): a veteran crew member who understands his job
2. Mr. Orange- (Tim Roth): a undercover cop sent to take out the mob boss, Joe
3. Mr. Blonde- (Michael Madsen): A psychopath who torturers a kidnapped officer of the LAPD. Real name is Vic Vega (possibly the brother of Vincent from Pulp Fiction)
4. Mr. Pink- (Steve Buscemi): a man of simple taste, he doesn't tip at restaurants and doesn't trust anybody
5. Mr. Blue- (Eddie Bunker): not much is revealed about his character, he dies after the heist.
6. Mr. Brown- (Quentin Tarantino): again, not much is revealed as he dies after the heist, but is played by the director of the same movie
7. Joe Cabot- (Lawrence Tierney): Mob boss, who gives the heist crew their names, highly respected
8. Nice Guy Eddie Cabot- (Chris Penn): Joe's son, in line to become the next boss

After the opening scene the movie the intensity is, well intense with the Mr. White, Blonde, Orange and Pink trying to figure out who ratted them out to the cops about the heist.

Personally, favorite scene is the "Cop Tortured by Mr. Blonde" scene because I don't know about you, but I love insane characters doing insane things, or maybe I'm just crazy (totally the second one). I love the song that plays during the whole scene "Stuck in the Middle with You", I think it fits perfectly with the tone because it's the exact opposite with the tone in the scene.

The only time that the movie slows down for only a couple minutes is with the flashback scenes with Mr. White, Joe and Joe, Mr. Blonde, and Eddie

In closing, I would highly recommend Reservoir Dogs to any fan of Crime Drama, Tarantino is a director that either you hate him or love him, I personally love him as a director. Stay tuned for my next review in the Tarantino Saga with Pulp Fiction.
